1963 Martin 00-18
Serial # 188121. With its smaller body size and compact neck feel, this Martin 00-18 is comfortable to play and a sweet sounding guitar to boot. Woody mids, punchy trebles and a focused bass response make this a great guitar for fingerstyle playing, but it also responds well to a flatpick attack.
The instrument is in excellent condition; we've just reset the neck, dressed its original frets and replaced the saddle. The result is a guitar that plays better today than it did the day it rolled off the assembly line in Nazareth 50 years ago. A pair of small, perfectly repaired cracks are just barely visible by the margins of the pickguard -- and the guitar is otherwise crack-free. There is a rather insignificant impact mark on the side near the endpin, which is the only other condition detail worthy of noting. Original finish is intact throughout and not heavily worn, neck and fretboard show only light playwear, and frets are very close to full height. The guitar plays perfectly, set up with fingerstyle action.
Mahogany back and sides, Sitka spruce top, tortoise binding, Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, bridge and headstock overlay, ever-so-soft V neck carve with a compact feel and 1-11/16" bone nut, bone saddle, original bridge pins, original Grover tuners and 24.9" scale.
With newer hard shell case
