2011 Martin D-28 Marquis Sunburst
We've always been big fans of the now-discontinued D-28 Marquis. With its vintage appointments, neck carve, and string spacing it looks and feels right and, thanks to its forward-shifted scalloped bracing and red spruce top wood, it sounds right too.
This sunburst D-28 Marquis is in just about perfect condition, and has been carefully set-up here at Folkway. Fretwear is almost non-existent, and the finish is close to blemish free.
Indian rosewood back and sides with zigzag back strip, ivoroid bindings, herringbone top purflings, 30s style bridge with through-cut glued in saddle,bevelled tortoise-celluloid pickguard. Modified V neck carve with 1-3/4” nut width and long volute. Old style logo, C.F. Martin stamp on the back side of the headstock, and vintage style tuners. Fossil ivory nut, saddle, bridge pins, and end pin.
A powerful and loud Dreadnought with plenty of Herringbone bass, midrange presence and clarity, scalloped-braced openness and complexity, and strong full trebles.
