2011 Martin CS21-11

Serial # 1485048. The CS21-11 features hide-glue construction, Golden Era scalloped Adirondack red spruce bracing, Adirondack red spruce top, and gorgeous Madagascar rosewood back and sides, bridge and fingerboard. Curly koa bindings, old-style decal headstock logo in silver and black, Waverly tuning machines with snakewood buttons, bone nut, saddle, and bridgepins, herringbone rosette, and beveled tortoise celluloid pickguard. To say that this is a fancy instrument is a huge understatement.

The guitar has a tremendous voice. Madagascar rosewood is a tonewood somewhat akin to Brazilian rosewood in both tone and appearance, and in combination with a scalloped-braced red spruce top and a hide-glue build, the guitar puts out bluegrass volume, huge headroom, a powerful and articulate bass end, and big full mids and trebles. It's an exceptional flat-picker.

In nearly perfect condition, the CS21-11 shows no real playwear to its finish, and only minor fretwear in the first position. There's a tiny ding on the volute, but no other flaws. Set-up lovingly in our shop with medium gauge strings.
