2008 Martin 00-18H Geoff Muldaur
Geoff Muldaur's signature Martin 00-18H is an updated recreation of the artist's 1930's Martin 00-18H that has been converted from it's original Hawaiian to standard setup. A 12 fret 00-sized model with mahogany back and sides and a red spruce top with ΒΌβ scalloped braces, the 00-18H GM is one of the most exciting models Martin has offered in recent years. It was a limited production run model and isn't available any longer; this example is #106, and is signed by both Geoff Muldaur and C.F. Martin IV.
The 00-18H Geoff Muldaur would, by a different name' fit perfectly in the Marquis series of instruments. It's very much a vintage-spec guitar, with its old-look Style 18 trimmings, 30's sunburst finish, and C.F. Martin stamp on the back of the headstock. The tuners are Waverly 3 on a plate, and the guitar's bridge features a vintage-style saddle and 30's foot print. Tortoise pickguard and bindings, bone nut and saddle, gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish, and a low C neck carve with 24.9β scale and 1-13/16β nut.
The guitar has been well played and shows more than average belt wear, dings, scratches, and dents in its finish. Full fret dress and set-up have just been done here at Folkway, so playability is excellent. The pickguard is a gorgeous Martin-made replacement, so this particular Geoff Muldaur looks that much better than most any other, despite the playwear to the finish! No cracks or repairs, excellent neck angle.
A particularly good sounding 00-12 fret, this guitar has a well developed bass response, dry and forward midrange, and thick, rounded trebles. It's opened up well, and is louder than you'd expect.
With original harshell case.
