2005 Michael Kelly Mandola Plus
Serial #OJ060161. A great entry level mandola from Clearwater, Florida-based Michael Kelly Instruments. The mandola predates the mandolin but nowadays is a little more difficult to find when compared with its popular little brother; 'mandolin' literally translates to 'little mandola'. Tuned a 5th lower than a mandolin to CGDA, it's the mandolin's throatier, darker sounding older brother.
Manufactured in Korea, this F Style Mandola features a hand carved spruce top, hand-carved maple back and sides, radiussed rosewood fingerboard and adjustable bridge, pearloid fret markers, bound body and headstock, 1-1/4" nut and 16-1/4" scale.
The instrument is in nearly-new condition and has been set up in our shop. The factory fretwork is on par with what you'd expect of an instrument in this price range and, despite our best efforts, some minor buzzes remain in a few spots.
