2005 Michael Heiden A Deluxe

Serial # A-36. A gorgeous long neck A-style mandolin from one of Canada's premier luthiers, this Heiden is a must have for pretty much any mandolin player. Based in British Columbia, Michael Heiden has been making high-quality instruments for over 40 years and enjoys a well-deserved reputation of one of the world's finest mandolin builders. This is an exceptionally finely built instrument, and among the most memorably voiced mandolins we've ever offered for sale at Folkway.

An absolutely gorgeous instrument flawlessly constructed of Master-grade spruce and incredibly figured Maple. Hand-rubbed vintage sunburst stain under a traditional varnish finish, perfectly mitered Loar-era style celluloid bindings, ebony fingerboard, pickguard and Loar-style adjustable bridge. Engraved silver James tailpiece, silver-plated Waverly tuning machines with pearl buttons, flawlessly-cut pearl headstock inlays, and polished bone nut.

With a neck that joins the body at the 15th fret, this is an A-style mandolin that is as comfortable with Bluegrass as it is Celtic. It offers a good amount of projection and chop in addition to its exceptional warmth.

This Heiden is in excellent condition, with very little playwear to its frets or finish. It shows minor finish blushing on the back, but is otherwise issue-free.

1-1/8' nut width, 13-13/16' scale length, radiused fingerboard fretted with modern profile wire that feels great. Excellent set-up compliments of our shop.
