1999 Michael Heiden F

A remarkably dynamic and expressive F-5. Michael Heiden's instruments are known for their sweet and rich tone, and this Englemann spruce topped F model is truly something else. Tremolos are lush, and treble string runs have a fullness not often encountered in an F-style mandolin. It offers ample volume and good chop, but this mandolin's strength lies in its ability to fill the corners of a room when played unaccompanied. It's a wonderful sounding instrument.

One-piece figured maple back, matching neck and sides, ivoroid bindings, and ebony fingerboard and bridge. Sheraton brown stain under lacquer finish, with a subtle sunburst on the back and sides. Schaller tuners, bone nut, upgraded engraved/machined James tailpiece. A tightly radiussed fingerboard with larger frets make playability easy and comfortable.

Professionally used and well cared for, the instrument has opened up very nicely over its life to date. The top's finish shows a few scratches, and there is a small chip at the bottom of the backstrap, behind the nut. Excellent set up and slightly wider 1-3/32”nut-width make for a very comfortable feel.
