2012 Huss and Dalton ROM-R Road Series OM Lefty

Serial # 3474. In an effort to offer a lower-priced alternative to their boutique-quality instruments, Huss and Dalton introduced their 'Road Series' in 2012. The instruments featured the same construction details and quality build as their more expensive brethren, but had scaled down trimmings, simpler appointments, and satin-finished back and sides in order to keep the prices low. They were exceptional sounding and playing guitars at mass-market prices, and they sold quickly and well. Perhaps too much so, as Huss and Dalton discontinued the 'Road Series' after building only about 100 instruments.

This lefty OM is built with rosewood back and sides and a Sitka spruce top. It's a light build, with scalloped braces, and small bridge plate, and it sounds tremendously good. It's a loud and even guitar, with very full trebles, rich midrange, and an open but nicely defined bass. An excellent all-around guitar that handles fingerstyle as well as it does a heavy flatpick attack.

Cream plastic bindings, single-ring rosette, rosewood fingerboard and bridge, bone nut and saddle, ebony pins, and Grover open-geared tuners. Gloss-finished top, satin neck, back, and sides. Fairly rounded over V neck, with a nutwidth of 1-23/32" and a scale of 25.4", and a string spread at the bridge of 2-3/16".

The guitar is in very fine condition. There are no cracks, very little in the way of playwear, and the set-up is excellent. There are a few small dings on the top, mostly along the side of the top in the bass bout (where your arm rests), but nothing worth writing home about. It's a very fine guitar in all respects.
