2006 Gibson LG-1 Custom
Serial # 02106065. First off, this guitar is an LG-2. We're not really sure why Gibson labeled it an LG-1 as it's X braced. Perhaps they forgot. In any case, it's a nice looking and sounding recreation of one of their classic models. The guitar has a scalloped braced Sitka spruce top, small rectangular rosewood bridge with bone through-saddle, late 1950's style tortoise-pattern pickguard. The neck features a 50's carve, a 1-11/16" bone nut, 24.75" scale, and three-on-a-strip Kluson tuners. It's fundamentally similar to the LG-2's of the mid-1950's and sounds a lot like what we'd imagine a five year old LG-2 would have sounded like fifty years ago. Kudos to Gibson for building a lovely re-issue. Now, if only they'd have given it the right name!
