2013 Gibson 1959 ES-335TD VOS

The Memphis-built Gibson Custom Shop 1959 ES-335TD VOS is about as close as you can get to going back in time to 1959, buying a new 335 and bringing it back to the future. Gibson pulled all the stops in designing this model, from the long pickguard to the neck carve, in an effort to create the best ES-335TD that they’ve made since the late 1950s.

This guitar is gorgeous. The sunburst lacquer with its low-sheen VOS treatment is stunning, and there is beauty in all of the details. Original 1959 body shape and contours, ‘Mickey Mouse ears’ upper bout shape, hot hide glue construction, lightweight center block, and maple/poplar/maple laminate construction. Accurate 1959 neck carve with a full C profile, 1-11/16” nut width, and approximately 0.9” depth at the 1st fret. Bound Indian rosewood fingerboard, 17° headstock pitch, Kluson tuners and pearl headstock inlays. PAF pickups with VOS covers, Alnico III magnets, mismatched coil winds, non-potted, and slightly underwound for a truly authentic PAF sound, and VOS-issue plastic parts throughout.

The 1959 ES-335TD VOS is Gibson’s best semi-hollow guitar, and this example is in As-New condition. It’s complete with original COA and hardshell case, and comes nicely set-up, care of our repair team.
