2007 Gibson Northern Jumbo

Serial # 01297049. Gibson built a limited run of 65 "Northern Jumbo" guitars for their Canadian distributor, Yorkville Sound in 2007. The instrument was almost exactly the same as their Southern Jumbo, but featured an engraved truss-rod cover, a fire-stripe J-35 style pickguard, a label signed by then Master Luthier Ren Ferguson, and a red maple leaf hidden on the backside of the headstock. It's not at all a common guitar, and chances are good this is the first you have ever heard of the model.

Like the Southern Jumbo, the north-of-the-49th version sports a very northern Sitka spruce top, and a quite tropical set of mahogany for its back, sides and neck. Scalloped bracing, SJ bindings, rosette, pearl parallelogram fretboard inlays and crown headstock ornament. Grover Rotomatic tuners, LR Baggs pickup. 24.75" scale length, 1-11/16" bone nut, round neck carve.

The guitar is in close to perfect condition, shows next to no fretwear or playwear, and is beautifully set up. The original truss rod cover is in the case-pocket as we figured a SJ-looking plain one would appeal to those of you south of the border.
