1997 Gibson Les Paul Standard 1958 Historic Reissue R8
Here's a mint-condition 1997 Gibson Historic Reissue Les Paul Standard R8 for your consideration. It's a fairly early one, and now at 20+ years is getting closer to being vintage itself!
The guitar is a knockout, simply put. Its highly figured maple top is like none we've ever seen before, and the butterscotch lacquer brings out the ripple and flame just beautifully. Back and side finish is gorgeous as well, and shows no fade. The guitar is completely unmodified and factory original, complete with Patent Applied For humbuckers, lacquered-in nut, unworn frets and finish, and ink-stamped serial number. All the factory documents are in the case pocket, dated 1997, and with serial numbers to match the guitar.
The guitar plays beautifully. At 8.9 lbs it's right in the sweet-spot for weight, and the '58 neck carve is about as awesome to play as a neck can be. Jumbo frets show no wear at all, and set-up (done by us) brings out the best the guitar has to offer.
This Les Paul R8 is about as fine a flametop as a reissue gets.
