1954 Gibson LG-3

A strong and focused scalloped-braced LG-3, with excellent bass and treble response and a lovely presence through the mid range. This one offers more clarity and sustain than the average LG-2 or 3, and would surely appeal to a player looking for a vintage-voiced small body Gibson with a modern twist.

A very clean guitar without many issues to report on, and the original frets show little wear. The finish is shiny and without any significant areas of wear, dings, dents, or heavy crazing. The top's center seam shows separation that was glued and cleated at some point in the past, and there is a repaired and cleated top crack along the bass-edge of the fingerboard's extension. Beyond that, the tuner buttons and saddle have been replaced, a few brace-ends have been glued down, and that's it.

Substantial neck feel, with a carve that's full and round, and a nut that measures 1-11/16”. Rosewood fingerboard and bridge, drop-in bone saddle, and small (pre-1955) pickguard. Excellent top arch, distinctive thick black purfling strip around the top – particular to '53 and '54 only. X braced Sitka top, Mahogany back and sides. Action measures 5 to 6 64ths at the 12th fret with a little saddle height available for further downward adjustment. The guitar plays easily and cleanly.

With original chipboard case
