1976 Gibson Byrdland
Serial # 00101202. The Byrdland was named for Billy Byrd and Hank Garland -- both high profile Nashville guitarists at the time of the model's introduction in 1955. Similar in appointments to the L5CES, the Byrdland was the flagship of the new thinline models, but featured a short scale neck with a small profile and narrow nut width for fast movement up and down the fingerboard.
Carved spruce top, laminate maple back and sides, rounded cut-away, three piece maple neck with multi-ply bound ebony fingerboard and pearl block inlays. Bound headstock with pearl logo and flowerpot inlay, gold Kluson tuners. Gold hardware throughout, completely original wire harness, all solder and pickups, original celluloid pickguard is intact and in fine shape.
Frets appear to have been replaced, they're largely unworn and nicely leveled. The nut is original, and the setup has just been done in our shop. It's strung with 12's, but thanks to the short 22.5" scale neck and the narrow 1-5/8" nut width, the feel of the guitar is fast and slinky.
A richly toned guitar, with lovely acoustic properties and fabulous sounding pickups. It's a comfortable guitar to play, and nicely balanced.
