1965 Fender Mustang
Serial # L90481, pots dated to mid 1965, neck dated 8 July 1965. Introduced in late 1964, the Mustang was added to the Fender line-up by the company's new owners, CBS. The short-scaled Mustang was the budget-priced version of the Jaguar and sold well as a result. The guitar features two single-coil pickups with plastic covers, each with on/off switching, and master tone and volume. Tremolo, 24" scale, tortoise over white color scheme, and a rosewood fingerboard.
Mostly original but for changed tuners and the screw-holes left behind from others previously mounted, and some resoldered joints on the slider switches. This guitar looks great. Plenty of aging to the finish and parts, lots of vibe. Small paint touch-up over buckle wear on the back, otherwise original finish throughout.
Set-up in shop, the guitar plays well.
With original hardshell case
