Vega No. 2 Tubaphone

A wonderfully pleasing open back 5 string, the Vega No. 2 Tubaphone has a wonderfully rounded-yet-articulate voice with plenty of warmth and minimal plunk. It’s both watery-smooth and plenty loud, and it’s a great frailing banjo. Deering’s brass Tubaphone tone ring is at the center of this banjo’s tone equation, but the instrument’s 3-ply violin maple rim, brass bracket band and notched tension hoop have a good part to do with it too.

The neck features tightly curled maple with an amber honey stain, ebony fingerboard with ivoroid binding and traditional Vega inlays and high gloss finish.

In excellent condition and very well set-up, this No. 2 Tubaphone is a great choice for a clawhammer player of any skill level. Apart from some fretwear in the first 5 frets and light tarnishing to the armrest, it’s in wonderful shape.
