1953 National 1125 Dynamic
Serial # X20601. The smaller-bodied fully-hollow National 1125 Dynamic is the kind of guitar that makes electric blues sound the way it should. The guitar has a fat, raw, powerful plugged in tone, with a high-output single-coil pickup mounted on the end of the fingerboard. It's the kind of guitar that sends tube amps to that special place without the help of anything other than a patch-cord to make it happen. And it's really hard to stop playing once you've started.
15-1/4" wide body, maple back and sides and spruce top, single bound, with sunburst on all sides. Pickguard-mounted output jack and volume and tone controls. Bolted-on neck with Gibson-scale fingerboard and 1-11/16" bone nut.
The guitar has been lovingly set-up in our shop and plays very well. Frets are surprisingly usable despite being 60 years old, pickup and controls work perfectly, bridge is well fit, and even the original Kluson tuners buttons are still functional. The guitar is completely original with the possible exception of the headstock logo. We do suspect it's been changed as most from this era are chromed, and this one isn't. There is evidence that, at very least, the logo has been off and reglued.
We've accompanied the guitar with a period Lifton hardshell case that fits it perfectly. While it's not the original case for the guitar, it does make for a dandy pair.
