1952 Gretsch Electromatic 6185

Serial #5498. With its hot DeArmond Dynasonic pickup, full-depth 16" archtop body and killer looks, this 6185 Electromatic is a Rockabilly machine. Plugged into a low-wattage tube amp the guitar has that thick and dark, rumbly vintage rock'n'roll tone that defines the rockabilly genre.

It's also in just remarkable condition. The guitar looks gorgeous and has very little playwear; there are some light pick scratches on the instrument's top, and a few small dings here and there -- but the back and sides are very clean, the neck finish and headstock are unworn, and the frets show only very light pitting.

Original Kluson arrowhead tuners with replaced buttons, original nut, pickguard, bridge, tailpiece, and control knobs. We've rewired the original pickup to new pots, capacitor, and output jack, and have rewound the pickup. The original parts are intact and included with the guitar.

Set-up in our shop, the guitar plays beautifully. The frets are level, and the action is easy and fast. Deep, round neck profile with a width at the nut 1-11/16". Scale is 24.6" scale length.

The package is completed by the guitar's beautiful original hardshell case.
