1964 Fender 5F1 Champ

A very rare variant of Fender's famous 5F1 Tweed Champ, the black Tolex 5F1 Champs mark the transitional period between Tweed and Blackface amplifiers. Fender likely used up all their stock of tweed before they ran out of top-panel Champ cabinets, and so black Tolex 5F1 champs were built for a very short period in 1964. This one dates to May of that year.

This amplifier is completely original and in near-mint condition. It has never been serviced, and is still equipped with its ungrounded power supply cord and original fuse wiring. All dated parts indicate early 1964 or late 1963 manufacture, which the tube chart date corroborates. And it works perfectly. Tone is 100% tweed champ, and it's a real fun amp to play.
