2021 Collings DS1

The Collings DS1 provides the power and articulation one expects from Collings, but with a smoother treble and soft overtones thanks to the 12-fret neck’s shifted bridge positioning and slotted headstock. A remarkable guitar that can be flatpicked hard and loud, the DS1’s magic really shows itself when you take your foot off the gas and lighten your touch. It’s a full and sweet sounding guitar with a beguiling mix of harmonic overtones and bold fundamental presence. It gets our vote, for sure.

Twelve fret Dreadnought body with mahogany back and sides and a scalloped-braced Sitka spruce top. Tortoise bindings and pickguard, ebony belly bridge with vintage 2-3/8” string spacing, bone saddle, and ebony pins. The neck features a Soft V carve and a slotted headstock, .885” depth at the first fret, 25.5” scale, and a nut width of 1-13/16”. Ebony headstock overlay, pearl inlay, and Waverly tuning machines. We’ve set the guitar up with 12-53 strings but it can easily handle mediums if you’d prefer. It’s ready for whatever kind of fuel you’re going to give it.

The guitar is in great shape and has had no repairs. There is some playwear evident on the frets, and an assortment of minor dings here and there on the body and headstock.

With original hardshell case.
